Is there a shooting range near by where I could sight in my new ammo and modifications?

Los Padres National Forest. Take Nacimiento Ferguson Road or Del Venturi Road towards the coast. Find some place up there and plink away.

Hello all I am very interested is it still to late to submit and application to hunt? Also do disabled veterans have to pay the 100$ for the annual pass. I have been meaning to head down there to try and do some pig hunting with my new bow. Thanks Russ

Looks like im going to make it. Going to be in the camp ground. Ill be in an Keystone Outback 5th wheel with two trucks one black and one silver.

The wife decided she wants to go out into the field with me. This is the first time she has shown an interest in going out, its going to be cool to have her along so if you see me in the field i will be the one with the good looking blond with me.:smile-yellow:

If you see both trucks in camp stop by she always has a beer or two in the fridge.

We will be pulling in around 3 or 4 Friday.

I am planning on heading south on 5 from Tracy early tomorrow morning and hitting up some Holister BLM land while heading west to FHL. Will be by myself most the weekend have a friend coming on Sunday for the day; but wouold be nice to hang out with you guys at camp if thats ok. Will be in a Jeep Cherrokee with Yamaka rack on top. Hope to see some pigs taken this weekend have been putting in a lot of one day trips this year and last; my wife, friends and nieghbors are all giving me a hard time about not seeing anything. The only place Ive seen pigs is along Corral Hallow RD across from Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area on Private Property on my drive home from work!

Yep, agreed. Ive never been here hunting, so do they let a certain number of hunters in each area?? Should i be wearing all orange and will it be like the 405 at rush hour?? At the least it will be a good camping trip.

they only allow so many hunters in an area I believe 13E is limited to around 10-15 hunters but area 11 is much larger and has a greater limit. Ive never been there for pres day but new years wasnt too bad and we had elk hunters there too at the time

Oh man! I'm gonna be there too, but it sounds like I'm gonna be most funny looking guy there because you guys can easily recognize me by looking at the most skinny guy who drives a mini van in the campground. By the way, Is this right that we have to leave the hunting area on Sat night, but we can keep the pass until we officially check-out on Sunday evening? So, there would be one time register on Sat while we just go straight in on Sunday morning?
Man! with 2 opened areas, I might have to buy a bullet vest :D

See you up their. I believe you have to leave the training (hunt) area at night ( 1/2 hr before sunset) and return to the camp ground and then continue hunting the next morning. Getting ready to head north, ill be looking for the skinny guy in a mini van at the camp ground.

Hello gentlemen,
sounds like a blast; I just found this link, as I'm planning a hunt for next weekend (25th) not this weekend. quick question is this typical for FHL, only allowing 2 training areas open, or do you think this is just a popular weekend and they've reacted to that?

Also if you don't mind, I would love to know how your hunt went next week. This will be my first pig hunt as well as my first in FHL.
Thanks, Manley

Looks like I'm not going to make this trip. Trying to get out tonight if I can.

Always drop by the check in window or call them each day, areas open up all the time if units finish training early or they get deployed on orders at last minute. I check before noon and before they window people leave at 4pm each day if I can to see what's changed.
