Hello- My name is Jim Welles. I run a small successful outfitting business in New Mexico. My main focus is big pronghorn bucks. I have a web page at http://www.newmexicobiggamehunting.com.

I have four openings left on two of my ranches. One ranch with 2 spots is located at Roy, NM. We killed a beautiful 83 gross B&C last fall on this place, and I have 2 spots at Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa always produces good bucks. I have several photos of bucks harvested there on my site. If anyone is interested in trying for public Gila BIG BUCK or other prime NM public spots let me know. I will either talk to you about your draw odds/success or be willing to take you.

I will offer a 10% reduction for all JHP members on my outfitted rifle antelope hunts. I will offer a 5% reduction on all my bow and muzzleloader deer and antelope hunts.

E-mail me if I can help with your antelope or any New Mexico hunting need. Thanks

If you are a bowhunter....we have just heard one of our preferred ranches has lowered their price for 2003. This is an outfitted hunt, place to stay, accommodations, guide for $1,250. If you'd like to read a couple of article about the ranch, go to www.imoutdoors.com and search the name Lynn Burkhead (ESPN Writer). From there go to page 4 and look for articles called Mission Possible, and Pronghorn-Just Add Water. Also, I still have 2 spots at Capulin for private land pronghorn bowhunters. Thanks-Jim

If you had a chance to go to the site, great and thank you. Please remember that my rifle antelope hunts offer the 10% JHP discount and if you have a hunter under 18, take off another 15%. We love to see the kids faces with their harvest!! I have only one spot left at Santa Rosa but the 2 spots at Roy are still there. This is a great hunt with an awesome guide, me. I will discount this hunt further if you can book both spots. Thanks again-Jim

Thinking about New Mexico as a hunting option?? If you are, I can help you understand the draw game here. Its not simple and looking at odds is key. E-mail me if you have a question about this crazy system we have. Same goes with land owner permits (private land access). I can help you there as well.

Ok guys, I'm ready to take any reasonable offer on a guided hunt for two at Roy. This hunt is on private land, includes guaranteed permits, meals, lodging, field care of trophies and meat. Check out one of the bucks we took on this hunt last year at my site. He grossed 83. Only 2 hunters are guided on this hunt. Jim

Just wanted to let all of you know that I have been in contact with Jim for the last month and he is great to work with. He and I are trying to arrange a hunt for this fall. He also provided me with a few references that I contacted and they all raved about the hunt and accomidations that Jim provides.

The reason that I post this is that I let Jim know this morning that I was interested in this Antelope hunt. Now he is working on something for me but I want to let all of you know. I will be going alone and the hunt is for two. If any of you would be interested in doing this hunt it is a great price and I think would be allot of fun. If you are interested let me know.

Jim, I hope that it is not a problem that I posted this.

Paul, I made the decison to go with the Outdoor Guide. We will be joining his crew at Roy. I will be in touch with you about the details. For those out there looking for NM Landowner Access Permits for Antelope, I will most likely have 1 or 2 for sale. You can e-mail me for the details. Jim

Its been a while since I have posted here. I just got my antelope contracts in from the Game and Fish Department here in NM. One of the ranches that we signed up a few years ago is going to open for a hunt this fall. It is located in GMU 40 south of Tucumcari. The ranch is 13,200 all deeded and has not been hunted in several years. The department is going to issue 4 landowner permits. If there is a group of 4 rifle hunters out there that want a smokin deal on a guided and or fully outfitted hunt on this ranch, e-mail me ASAP. I am going to look at the ranch to ascertain the quality within the next 2 weeks. Since it hasn't been hunted there could be some absolute hogs. Jimbo

I have 2 landowner permits at Santa Rosa on the Sunshine Mesa Ranch for sale, 6,000 acres all deeded. This place is within 8 minutes driving time from Santa Rosa. If you don't draw, e-mail me if you have interest. The price is $1,000 each.

A rancher friend of mine applied for rifle permits this year. He said he has several buck in excess of 80 inches that will die of old age if not harvested. He wants $2,500 for a fully outfitted hunt. Jesse's guys get 10% off. This ranch is 52,000 acres. It is located near Ft. Sumner, NM. Let me know if anyone has interest.

FYI-A high up bird in the Department has let me know the NM draw results are being pushed up. The projected release date will be the end of June. Cross your fingers!!! If you are a mobility impaired hunter and don't draw, and if you want a shot at hunting on the Tucumcari Ranch mentioned above August 3, before anyone else....., let me know.

I just read two studies determining that bucks in the 2 to 3 year old range have the largest horns. Some buck pronghorn can live anywhere from 12 to 14 years given the right conditions. The bucks that are 80 inches could be very young bucks and in no risk of dying anytime soon.

Grail-thanks for the info. Is this study available anywhere to read? What do you think about the comment on 2-3 year olds? It seems a bit out there to me........

JFWRC,

I am interested in that second tag, if it is still available.
What are the dates of the hunt?
